Site Navigation, Data Entry & Reporting
In recent times, the AMS has gone through some significant cosmetic changes in an effort to simplify the user experience. Previously, there were ways to enter and access existing data, leaving it up to users to which method works best for them. However, with more options often came more confusion. In response, the AIS data team have minimised the available ways of performing certain tasks and standardised the layout of the AMS across disciplines while actively encouraging what is believed to be “gold standard” method of using the site. These actions are split into data entry and data consumption; these methods are detailed below:
DATA ENTRY OPTIONS
Entering data into the AMS generally fall into 3 recommended methods: favourite events, enter data for athlete/group and dashboard “click-throughs”.
1. Favourite Events for commonly used forms
- Favorite Events– Frequently used forms (generally core discipline specific forms) can be saved to a user's front page for quick access.
- By hovering over the form icon and clicking “Enter Data”, users can select the relevant athlete and immediately begin entering information.
- Users can customise which favourite events are positioned on their landing page by following the steps here.
- It is recommended that your discipline consult form (Para Carer Consult) should be the minimum included in your favourite events – this is recommended across all disciplines as the consult form can be used to not only enter notes but also to navigate to other core discipline forms from within the consult form.
2. Entering data into less frequently used forms
- Forms that are used less regularly (all forms that you have access to in fact) can be accessed via the "Enter Data for Athlete" and “Enter Data for Group” tabs at the top of the page. Entering data via this method will direct you to select the athlete profile to enter data against and then select the form from your full list of available forms.
3. Editing and adding to existing data
- Each discipline on AMS has their own specific dashboard on their frontpage that not only serve to provide a very basic summary of your discipline’s core forms but also acts as a quick and easy way to search and access existing records.
- Dashboards typically have basic filters enabling users to narrow down to specific records that can be accessed by clicking on the row/tile/data point and click on the “Go to record” link in the ensuing pop-up.
DATA CONSUMPTION - DASHBOARDS
Dashboards are the easiest and most effective way of analysing and reporting on data within AMS. Users can easily access them through three different methods:
1. Landing Page Dashboard
As mentioned above, each discipline-specific landing page dashboard displays key data sources identified by discipline leads and working groups. Critical sections, such as "Action Items" and "Shared Comms," ensure that essential information is readily available.
2. Favorite Dashboards Section
Frequently used dashboards, including current discipline front page dashboards and sport-specific dashboards, can be stored here for quick access. Users can customise this section to fit their needs.
3. Dashboards Tab
Less frequently used dashboards can still be accessed via the search functionality in the “DASHBOARDS” tab located along the top ribbon.
DATA CONSUMPTION - REPORTS
Raw data can be accessed via the reports module that can be accessed via the “Reports” tab at the top of the page. More advanced filtering and search functions are available here and data can be exported to Excel from here for more thorough investigation.
