How To Enter Data
The vast majority of data entered onto AMS is entered into what is termed "Event Forms"; these are used tot collect and store chronological data to analyse trends over time. These forms contain a range of field types; some require a numeric response, others may require a sentence or paragraph response.
In some cases, it may be mandatory for a value to be entered into a specific field before the record can be saved. This configuration is usually done to maintain the integrity of the data and ensure that necessary information is collected. If there are any required fields in the form, they will appear in red text and a warning message will be displayed at the bottom of the form until they are complete.
You may also find that some fields already have a response filled out. These fields may have been configured to automatically use the last value that you entered or to populate with a default value, but you can still change these values.
There are a couple of methods of entering data onto AMS with the most suitable method depending upon your role (athlete vs coach) and the type of data that you are entering.

ENTERING DATA FOR GROUP ON DESKTOP
Group entry is a means of entering data into a form for multiple users at the same time. The data entry page will be displayed as a table with the selected athletes listed in the first column and the event form fields appearing as separate columns.
Things to note when entering data for group:
- ATHLETE SELECTION - when presented with the option to select athletes to enter data against, select only athletes for which you actually want to enter data otherwise empty records will be created for those who do not have data entered.
- FILL DOWN - like Excel, you can fill down entries from a single cell or a complete row. Simply click the "FILL DOWN" button from the entry pop up and you will be presented with the following pop down. You can select the "Copy entire rows" tick box to copy the entire row for all athletes or a sub-set of the athletes list (e.g. rows 3-4). You can even a number of rows to repeat themselves, for instance you can repeat rows 1-2 to rows 3-8 and have the sequence repeat itself.
